The Rivers of Bangladesh
1. Bangladesh is a riverine (b`xgvZ„K) country.
2. There are over 700 rivers flowing through the country.
3. Most of them rise (Drm) from the Himalayas and fall (cwZZ nIqv) into the Bay of Bengal.
4. All the rivers flow (cÖevwnZ nIqv) from the north to the south.
5. The Padma, the Meghna, the Jamuna are the biggest and widest (cªk¯Í) rivers of Bangladesh.
6. There are other important rivers too.
7. The rivers of Bangladesh bear (enb Kiv) a great utility (Dc‡hvwMZv).
8. They have made the soil fertile (De©i).
9. Fishes abound (cÖPzi cwigv‡Y _vKv) in the rivers.
10. Besides, the rivers are the waterways (Rjc_) of the country for trade (e¨emv), commerce (evwYR¨) and general
transport (cwienb).
11. Again, some rivers are the source (Drm) of energy (kw³).
12. They help us produce (Drcv`bKiv) electricity.
13. Rivers are also a part of our culture (ms¯‹…wZ).
14. Sometimes the rivers cause great damage to our lives and properties (welq-m¤úwË).
15. In the rainy season, they overflow (Dci w`‡q cÖevwnZ nIqv) their banks (Zxi) and cause floods.
16. People suffer untold (AeY©bxq) sufferings then.

8. I keep her in a big and beautiful basket.
9. I always take good care of her.
10. She is fond of milk.
11. She likes to play and spend time with me.
12. I also love to spend time with her.
13. Mini is very intelligent.
14. When I call her name, she comes near me.
15. All the members of our family love her very much because she is a part of our family.
16. She is also very useful to our family.
